WCCS releasing students early today ahead of weather threat

From reports

Due to incoming weather, and the potential impact of freezing rain on our county roads, Whitley County Consolidated Schools announced a short while ago that they are going to hold an early dismissal today, Monday, January 22, 2024, in order to get students home and buses off the roads before it gets dangerous.

Forecasters are calling for freezing rain to begin early this afternoon and potentially continue through the evening hours.

According to a notice posted today school officials said, “We will dismiss our elementary students at 12:30 p.m. and our high school and middle school students at 1:30 p.m. School offices will follow the early dismissal information in Skyward. Please don’t call the school offices as they will be involved in preparing children for dismissal and will not be answering their phones. High school drivers will be dismissed at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Those with questions are asked to call WCCS’ Central Office at (260) 244-5771.
