Moo-Over will once again be visited by America’s Best Restaurant on March 7, which is also International Plant Power Day.

The shoppe will highlight various items from its plant-based, dairy-free, sugar-free and gluten-free menu items including a variety of ice crème flavors, sundaes, shakes, brownies, cookies, pies, and more. The video shoot will last 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the public is invited.

Julie Hurd, owner, says the goal of this shoot is to feature the food allergy-safe environment in the shoppe.

“Working with ABR’s we wanted to be sure they capture our best attributes and desserts and to help communicate that we offer a safe environment for those with food allergies at Moo-Over,” she said. “Everyone should be able to enjoy desserts!”

America’s Best Restaurants focuses on small, unique restaurants with the goal of increasing top-of-mind awareness for those businesses and ultimately helping them grow. Moo-Over was originally featured on ABR’s in July 2023.

More events are planned for the community at Moo-Over. On March 23, Moo-Over will hold a Kids Blind Taste Testing Event at the restaurant. From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. children are invited to participate and sample five new ice cream flavors. The one to guess all five flavors correctly gets to name a new flavor that will be sold at the shoppe. This is the first time a blind taste event has been held for children at Moo-Over.

“Kids are a big reason why I do what I do and make safe dessert options for those with food allergies. We wanted a fun way to help them become part of the process for naming a new flavor,” says Hurd.

Those interested should go to Moo- Over’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mooover.cc. On the same day, there will be Easter cookie decorating from 1 to 8 p.m. There is a fee to participate in these events.

Moo-Over is a plant-based, sugar-free, dairy-free restaurant located at 207 W. Van Buren Street, Columbia City, and opened in 2020.

It has become a trusted dessert destination for those with food allergies and sensitivities. The staff is trained to help guide customers with food allergies to flavors and desserts that are safe for them to enjoy. The shoppe also offers nut-free options.
