EMA, National Weather Service share report on recent weather

Today, the Whitley County Emergency Management Agency and the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana shared an updated report regarding storms that passed through Whitley County on Tuesday, May 7.

According to reports, a severe thunderstorm, with a 50dbz core up to 35,000 feet, caused episodic wind damage in a 12.4 mile area from North Manchester to South Whitley to the south side of Larwill.

During the storm, the roof of a home collapsed, barns were destroyed, metal
roof panels were lofted, a diesel fuel tank was split open and power lines and trees were downed as well.

Radar data indicated this thunderstorm collapsed within the aformentioned areas. Damage reported from both the Fort Wayne media market and EMA offices is consistent with 75 to 85 mph wind speeds.
