(The Hoot photo courtesy Columbia Township Fire Department) The Columbia Township Fire Department was dispatched just before 3 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023, for a grain dryer fire in the 1000 block of East Business 30. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find flames visible. Working with facility personnel, the fire was quickly extinguished and grain was emptied from the dryer. This is not uncommon, especially with the amount of grain being dried this year. No injuries were reported and Columbia Township Fire Department units retuned to their station by 4:30 a.m.
