CCHS Cross Country: Four qualify for State Finals

The Columbia City High School Boys and Girls Cross Country teams had good racing results at the New Haven Regional meet last weekend, with four individuals qualifying for the state finals.

According to reports, the boys team was predicted to finish in 9th place, but finished in 6th place out of 25 teams – missing advancement to the state finals by just two points. Boys advancing as individuals to state include Gavin Good and Marcus Ridge.

The 6th place CCHS Boys Cross Country team finishers included:

Gavin Good – 7th at 16:03 (personal record)

Marcus Ridge – 8th at 16:04

Daniel Mullett – 33rd at 16:43

Will Schmitt – 91st at 17:31

Tyler Sparks – 102nd at 17:36 (personal record)

Matthew Peppler – 108th at 17:41

Logan Copeland – 144th at 18:01

The CCHS Girls team placed 8th at the competition, with Kenya Leitch and Samantha Lickey qualifying for the state finals.

Brooke Sigler – 86th at 20:57

Ayla Wagner – 99th at 21:16

Felice Mullinax – 224th at 24:00(injured, but finished)

The Indiana Cross Country State Finals will be held next Saturday, October 28, at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute.
