Work underway at Whitley County Historical Museum

This morning, the staff of the Whitley County Historical Museum took a closer look at the exterior of the museum to see some of the exciting preservation work underway on the 1860s Thomas Riley Marshall home. Scaffolding, above, is in place on the east side of the museum, as crews have begun the tedious process of rebuilding and repairing decaying areas of the roof, overhang, trim and soffits. Additional exterior renovation and restoration work will continue over the coming months as well. At times, this may mean the museum will be unable to accommodate tours. We hope you will call ahead to check accessibility.

The museum staff are excited to be taking next steps in preserving this important landmark in Whitley County’s history. As often as they can, they will share information about the critical work happening to ensure the museum can be enjoyed and appreciated by future generations.
