The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced a significant road closure on Main Street at the Blue River Bridge for reconstruction. The closure is set to begin on July 8, 2024, and will affect the section of Main Street between Hanna Street and Spencer Street.

The closure is expected to last up to 140 days, approximately 4.5 months. During this period, INDOT has provided an official detour route: drivers should use US 30, SR 5, SR 14, and SR 9.

Local residents are advised to use alternative routes, including Radio Road (near the animal shelter), Line Street and Van Buren Street, to bypass the closed section of Main Street. Authorities urge drivers not to use Whitley Street as a bypass.

Additionally, there will be no parking allowed on Spencer Street between Main and Line Streets for the duration of the closure.
