Columbia City resident and Columbia Township Fire Department probationary member Lainy Wooley has been recognized with a 2023 Gold Award from the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana. Wooley received her award at a Gold Award ceremony held on June 23 at Goshen College.

Wooley, standing above second from right, was recognized for her project which advocates for mental health for First Responders. The Gold Award represents the pinnacle of accomplishment in Girl Scouting, exemplifying exceptional leadership and lasting contributions to the community.
