First Fridays Kicks off the Season with Kickflips and Superwhips

First Fridays opens its 2024 season this Friday, May 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Downtown Columbia City. Columbia City Connect’s beloved community event kicks off with the theme “Pedals and Petals.”

“Pedals and Petals” will feature a BMX stunt show, free bike helmets to the first 150 kids, live music, a plant sale and swap, downtown businesses with First Fridays specials, food trucks and vendors.

The Wonder Wheels BMX Stunt Team performs jaw dropping tricks and non-stop action. Riders will perform stunts such as 360’s, superwhips, backflips and bikeflips as they fly 15 ft. in the air. In between
the Ramp Rider’s run, see the technical and artistic Flatland Riding. This spectacular performance runs two shows: 6:45 to 7 p.m. and 7:45 to 8 p.m. The first 150 kids will receive a FREE bike helmet.

Kids can also enjoy the RE/MAX Integrity bounce house for kids for FREE and Equestrian Dreams will have horse rides.
Plant enthusiasts will enjoy a plant sale and swap.

Master Gardeners of Whitley County and community members will have booths at the Plant Sale and Swap.

Evan Lee & Co will be the music performers for our May First Fridays event. They have a Neosoul/Funk sound that is like none of the other bands we’ve had. Evan Lee & Co features members of Pink Droyd, Fort Wayne Funk Orchestra and The Be Colony. You will not want to miss this act.
