(The Hoot News photo provided) On the shores of Troy Cedar Lake, Mary Willhite and Dee (Parish) Conn became friends at Camp Whitley.

Swimming, sporting and singing silly songs, they formed a lifelong bond. The two recently celebrated 50 years of friendship with a trip to Cabo San Lucas.

Camp Whitley, located in northwestern Whitley County, has been in operation since 1928. The recreational camp offers activities for children ages 7-14 each summer.
