The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Whitley County, now in effect from 4 p.m. this afternoon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

Freezing rain is expected with accumulations of up to a quarter of an inch with even larger accumulation possible in portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio.

Forecasters are calling for difficult travel and deteriorating road conditions beginning this afternoon and into tomorrow morning. Additionally, with freezing rain and ice accumulations, power outages are possible. Residents are urged to plan ahead and avoid travel if possible.
