BABE of Whitley County, a non-profit organization that provides resources and a community for Whitley County families, is hosting Santa and Mrs. Claus on Tuesday, December 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at their new location in Columbia City. Traveling Tom’s Coffee Truck will be parked right outside of the building. BABE of Whitley County moved into their new temporary home at Columbia City United Methodist Church at 605 Forest Parkway in August.
“Since moving this summer, we want to make sure the families of Whitley County know where we are and where they can get the resources they need for a healthy family,” said Laura Tucker, Executive Director of BABE. She continued, “This event will give families a fun activity to do inside during a cold December evening, plus the kids can get their photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.”
Santa and Mrs. Claus are expected at 6:00 pmwith a photographer who will take photos of the families with Santa and Mrs. Claus at no charge. The photos will be available to download on Facebook in the days following the event. Along with Traveling Tom’s Coffee Truck, which will have hot and cold beverages available for purchase, Sweet Tooth Confections will serve free cookies for the children.
Tucker added that there will be kids’ activities and two prize packages available through a give-a-way. She said, “We’re selling tickets for $1 to be entered to win a beautiful dollhouse or a Peg-Pergo Tractor.” Tucker continued, “We are accepting freewill donations during the event, but we thought it might be fun to have a couple of Christmas gifts to give away, too.”
